Triple MVP Nikola Jokic sustains a 'gut-wrenching' leg setback.
Thrice-crowned National Basketball Association MVP Nikola Jokic sustained a "devastating" injury to his knee as the Nuggets were defeated by a score of 147-123 against the Miami Heat.
The Serbian center sustained the injury late in the first half following an unintentional collision with teammate Jones.
His teammate came down on the footwear of the big man, who immediately collapsed to the ground grabbing his leg.
The 30-year-old, who leads the NBA this season in rebounds and assists, had a score of 21 points and eight assists in the matchup prior to incurring the injury.
He will undergo an scan on the following day to evaluate the extent of the issue.
"Immediately, Jokic knew something was wrong," stated Denver head coach Adelman.
"This is part of the NBA. Anyone who gets hurt, that's difficult, most notably a player as special as Jokic. We'll find out more on Tuesday."
"We will continue together. Clearly, right now, I am focused about Jokic as a person and the frustration of experiencing something of that nature."
