Toronto Blue Jays Secure World Series Showdown With the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays reached their first World Series after 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the decisive game seven of the ALCS.

Behind by two runs, Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh, propelling the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 triumph in the series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, who are the defending champions, in the forthcoming World Series.

"I'm thrilled for this squad, the city, Canada," said Springer, a star of the Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "This is such an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now slugged 23 total October home runs, placing him third in history behind Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).

"I can't think of another person on planet Earth that I'd choose in that moment other than Springer with his playoff prowess," said manager John Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the early in the series, are still the only MLB franchise never to appear in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" after his team's loss at their home ballpark, but applauded their work this season.

"It's a special team. It's a shame that we had to come out on the losing end of the series," he remarked.

Toronto's team won the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Los Angeles in the opener on this Friday.
