The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Mayor.

It might not have been at the equivalent scale as pardoning festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of pardons issued from the start of the beginning of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future without fear.”

The event, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, provided by a local firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “6-7” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so pervasive that a prominent word reference recently declared “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A New Life

This particular pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to begin the holiday season,” said the event host, in a decidedly positive message.

“It represents the spirit of Miami: happy, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Each year, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they marked the pig's pardon.
