Previous BBC Advisers Participate in MPs' Grilling In the Wake of Assertions of Partiality in Leaked Memorandum
We begin with questions from Conservative MP the committee chair, who chairs the panel.
She commences by giving details to the leaked memo prepared by Michael Prescott and published in a daily publication.
"I don't want the British Broadcasting Corporation leaning toward one side or the other, I just want it straight, unbiased and fair," he declares.
When asked whether he considers the British Broadcasting Corporation is institutionally biased, Prescott responds: "Absolutely not. Let's be clear, tons of stuff the BBC creates is top-tier - encompassing informative and entertainment content."
However, he continues: "There is real work that must be undertaken at the BBC."
A further former external BBC adviser questioned by the committee, Caroline Daniel, states she views the BBC extremely earnestly and that it operates a "ongoing system and vigorous discourse" regarding fluid and multifaceted issues.
"Did the BBC ready to engage in a thorough dialogue and exchange and take action?" she asks herself. "From my perspective, affirmative, they were."
