President Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.

He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “devastated”.

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a attack on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.

White House Offer

The president explained he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president told reporters. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Mourners assembled over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both they had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to support public safety in Washington DC.

Honoring Beckstrom

“Sarah was the individual that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always willing to support those in need.”

Funeral arrangements for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Judicial Measures and Government Revisions

Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy prompted the administration to pause asylum processing and temporarily stop providing entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a resident of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Morrisey mentioned on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on the program that she also intended to speak to the family.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, per the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” the governor informed the audience at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
