Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is unclear and the American officials has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," it added.

Officials reported missile fragments landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
