Emma Raducanu advanced to round three in three out of four major tournaments this year.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain will not compete in her final two events in 2025 as a result of the illness she has been battling over the past 10 days.

At 22 years old was due to play in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to regain her health ahead of launching next year's training.

These plans will involve coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have agreed to work together again next season.

She required blood pressure checks during her first-round match with Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She needed once more medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

She was also playing far from freely in the third set versus Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has troubled her at times this year.

Those results meant an encouraging season, in which the player advanced into the top 30 globally after more than three years since her previous ranking, finished with a trio of defeats.

She held three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in the Beijing tournament last month.

Raducanu won 28 matches in the current season and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament prior to a loss in a three-set match to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role ahead of the US Open.

The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the collaboration persists, with planned training sessions in the coming months.

She mentioned that the trial session alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She nearly succeeded to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati during August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round prior to losing to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
