The institute's chair, a former Amazon UK boss, confirmed that nearly eighty separate studies at the 440-staff institute have been closed, transferred out or finished because they do not align with the new direction.

The institute has faced organizational challenges since last year as workers demonstrated against restructuring, culminating in a team of staff members registering an official concern to the relevant regulatory body.
